How to Get a Library Card

Library Cards are issued at no charge to those who present identification complete with current address. ID can be a government ID (driver's license, military ID or other) or even a piece of mail with your name and current address. A person of any age may apply for a card. Children under 17 must have a parent present to sign the application when applying for a card.

Lost or Damaged Cards

A $2.00 fee will be charged for replacement of damaged, lost, or stolen cards.

Loan Duration

  • The loan period for books, magazines & audio books is two (2) weeks. Patrons are limited to five (5) books per person, renewable once.
  • The loan period for DVDs is 3 days. Each family/address is limited to 3 DVDs, renewable once.
  • For your convenience, a Book and DVD Drop is located on the north wall of the building.

Renewals

  • You may extend the loan period of a checked out item.
  • You may call the Library during business hours.
  • Have your Library Card number available.
  • Or you may stop in and renew.
  • You do not need to bring the items with you, but you need your Library Card.

You can also renew your books on-line, right on the Library website.

You'll need log-in credentials, which include your library card number and a password, which you set up with a staff member at the check out desk.

  • After you have a password, you can log into your account by clicking on the Catalog link.
  • Once you're on the next page, click the link in the middle of the page, that says "Friench Simpson Memorial Library."
  • From the next page, look in the upper right hand corner.
  • You'll see a little box that says "Login".
  • Click that box and the login screen appears.

The User Name is your Library Card number without the P before the number.

Then, enter the Password you set up and you're in!

Once you're logged in, look for the "My Info" tab towards the top of the screen, click that and you'll see the books you have checked out, when they're due and a place to the right of each title to renew.

Fines

  • Video/DVD fines are $1.00 per working day per video.
  • Book, magazine and audio materials' fines are 5 cents per working day per book and/or magazine. Overdue materials and fines must be cleared before additional materials can be checked out.
  • A $1.00 fee will be charged for damaged bar codes.
  • Anyone with outstanding fines will forfeit all library privileges including computer use.

Book Drop

The Book and Video Drop is located on the North Wall of the Library adjacent to the driveway. Enter on the East end of the Driveway, from Promenade St. You may return items at any time to the Drop.

Place a Book on Hold

You can also place a hold on a book from your account by going to the Catalog, looking up a book you're interested in. If the notation says "Available 0 of 1", click on the title of the book to go to the detail record. From there, you'll see on the right hand side of the screen a "Hold It!" button. Click that, and you're done!

The Library will inform you when the book is ready to be picked up.

You can also place a book on hold at the Library. Just go to the checkout counter and speak to a Librarian.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows Friench Simpson Memorial Library card holders access to books which are not available from the Library collection. The Friench Simpson Memorial Library does not accept requests for DVDs, audio books, magazines, reference or local history books, photographs or microfilm.
